I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky

In April 2010 Tal was commissioned to create the on-stage video projections for a unique production of I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky, a musical/opera composed by John Adams (1995). The story takes place in the aftermath of the 1994 earthquake in Northridge, California, and covers the reactions of seven young characters who come from different social and ethnic backgrounds. The video was an integral part of the set, utilising both front and back projections. There is a sense of 90s retro in the design of the graphic elements, itself part of the general period-objective of the production.
