This film is the first movement of Debussy’s En Blanc et Noir, a 2-piano piece written in 1915. Mixing footage from a deserted army base in East Anglia with the Californian desert, the film is a surreal journey in time studded with playful image juxtapositions and an ever- changing ‘cut and paste’ collage on screen.
